The Santuario del Frassino (Sanctuary of the Ash Tree)
The Sanctuary is much more than a building: it is a place of pilgrimage and prayer that houses the miraculous ‘Madonnina’, the small statue of the Madonna del Frassino measuring approximately 14 cm, which according to legend appeared among the branches of an ash tree.
For generations, families and worshippers have walked along the cypress-lined avenue leading to the sanctuary to ask for blessings, offer vows and experience moments of contemplation. Inside, the side chapels house votive offerings and frescoes depicting the life of St. Francis, while the constant presence of the community of Friars Minor ensures spiritual hospitality: a place where art and faith merge in the embrace of the Virgin Mary, who has watched over Lake Garda for centuries.
